We are not born with hate in our hearts.
We are not born hating or fearing those who are different to us, be that because of race, religion or sexuality.
We are taught to hate and fear others.
That means that what we think can be untaught, and we can be educated to understand that we are all the same. At our core…we are not that different.
Jo Cox MP, who was tragically assassinated in the street by a far-right extremist, said it far better than I can.
She said, “We are far more united and have far more in common with each other than things that divide us.”
Would the world be safer if we all shared that philosophy?
